About the project

Where did the Stories of the Unconscious come from?

What kind of movies does Cait make?

Dang it! How do I use this website?

Synopsis

Stories of the Unconscious will be a short film of about 20 mins total in length and involves 9 different micro-short films, each about 2 mins long. The Statue, The Red Box, In the Well, Yellow Bird, Smells Like Chewing Rubber, The Attic of My Childhood, The Man in the Green Suit, The Lake, and The Him on the Screen. The goal is to have a wide variety of collaborators, as film is an inherently collaborative medium and working with other artists is a mind-expanding, fulfilling and fascinating endeavor. So far, we have filmed The Red Box working with cinematographer Dan Brohawn and actors Julia Held and Frank Palmer, and we've filmed The Statue working with cinematographer Alex Hill and actor Nick Hendershott. We will be working with a variety of cinematographers who will each bring a new voice to the story of their focus.

ABOUT THIS TEAM

Sara Murphy and Cait met while working on the set of Philip Seymour Hoffman's directorial debut, Jack Goes Boating. Sara has always been supportive, funny and offered her assistance, emotionally and intellectually, with any project that she has worked on. We greatly appreciate Sara's perspective on life and on film.

Damon Pelletier is our set and character designer for stop-motion sequences. Damon is currently working with the design team for the 2014 Olympics. Damon's attention to detail and his craftsmanship will bring a whole new level to Stories of the Unconscious.

Distribution plan

We have been compiling a list of short film festivals with a strong focus on experimental film. This list is on-going and we will follow these festivals and then submit to them once the film is complete. Beyond a future festival run, we would like to make Stories of the Unconscious available on Seed&Spark and other internet platforms. If we're lucky and gain distribution through a short film outlet, that would be spectacular. Stories of the Unconscious will also be available on DVD. CONTACT US at sotufilm@gmail.com
