After Pluto Web Series
After Pluto explores the fragility of memory through the eyes of a woman who has suffered a traumatic brain injury, along with the irrevocable effects, both tragic and comedic, it has on her life as well as on the lives of those who surround her.
Inclusion StatementWe are a female led production team, with a pilot that features a diverse cast on multiple levels including a 2/3 majority female cast, a plus size female lead, and a wide age range, which we feel culminates in truthful storytelling and best reflects modern society.
About The Project
WHAT DOES THE SERIES TITLE MEAN?
The last thing our lead character, best selling author Truman Welles, remembers from before her accident (which takes place in our pilot episode) is driving and hearing on the radio that Pluto has been downgraded as a planet. In our story, Truman's accident occurs in August 2016 - Pluto was downgraded in August 2006 - so the decade in between is now a mystery, with huge implications for her and everyone in her life.
WHAT HAVE WE DONE TO DATE?
- In 2015 our co-creators/co-producers Lane Allison and Sara Lafferty began work on what would become the pilot episode of "After Pluto".
Left: After Pluto "Episode One: Pilot" table read with cast & crew; Right: final day of shooting the pilot - the stunt sequence.
- Shot over 4 days in fall 2016, our pilot was released on YouTube on Feb 28, 2017. Watch it below:
- As the pilot has received press coverage and festival honors, including Best Web Episode by the Eurasia International Monthly Film Festival, Allison and Lafferty have laid the groundwork to produce the remaining 7 episodes to complete the first season, including expanding the production team.
WHY SHOULD THE REST OF THE FIRST SEASON BE MADE?
Truman (Lane Allison) and Ian (Christopher Carver) discuss the downfall of their marriage, unaware an even bigger fall is around the corner.
- There's a lot more of Truman's story to be told and the buzz generated by the pilot, with the addition of social media and interviews on podcasts and in various publications, has created a fan base eager for more!
- One of our chief passions is to create more TV/film roles for women both in front of and behind the camera. For our next 7 episodes we will have 5 directors - 3 female and 2 male - and we're looking forward to seeing how the world of After Pluto comes to fruition through their various visions and how they come together to create a full tapestry to complete our first season.
WHY DO WE NEED YOUR HELP MAKING THE REST OF THE SEASON?
Our pilot episode was a labor of love: it was self-funded by co-creators Lane Allison and Sara Lafferty, and the cast & crew graciously agreed to waive their fees so it could be made (their main reason to be involved: they loved the script!). However, with 7 more episodes planned, we want to be able to compensate them for their time and talent moving forward, and currently don't have the means to support that, along with other production costs, without your help.
WHY THIS CAMPAIGN NOW?
Whether you watch streaming shows on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, or YouTube or you follow independent web series on YouTube, Vimeo, or other platforms, you probably know we're in a really exciting time right now when it comes to acheiving the goals we believe in, as mentioned above.

Rebecca Phelps - Director
Rebecca Phelps is very excited to be joining the "After Pluto" team. Always drawn to female-led stories about plucky, yet flawed, women, this series offers an exciting opportunity to delve into themes of regret, lost chances, & self-understanding -- the process of looking in a mirror that's not always flattering. And yet, how else do we grow?
Rebecca is a screenwriter, novelist, & actress. Look for her debut Young Adult sci-fi novel "Down World" in the coming year, as well as the pilot of her own web series "Jenny is a Tramp," detailing the life of an aspiring entrepreneur over four separate ages as she battles a history of self-sabotage. For fans of "Outlander" and "Handmaid's Tale," check out her hit blog on adaptations, www.novel2screen.net.
Amanda Weier - Director
Amanda Weier is honored to join the "After Pluto" team, having fallen in love with the project & its resilient heroine at the premiere screening. A big fan of stories that concern second-chances & all the comic, cathartic, tragic & triumphant turns they can take, Amanda cannot wait to help bring the next chapter of this inspired series to life.
Amanda is a director, actor, writer &... realtor. As a writer, she currently has two films in development with Massar Storyworks: "Stray", which was a second-place finalist in both the Slamdance and Skyline screenwriting competitions, & "Bethlehem," which is based on the Dar Williams song "The Christians and the Pagans." The latter is slated to go into production in 2018. Recent acting credits include Murray Mednick's critically acclaimed 6 play series known as "The Gary Plays" produced by Padua Playwrights & Open Fist Theatre Company. Most recent directing credits include various Hollywood Fringe shows & the short film "Held", a California Women's Film Fest Finalist produced by Phileon Productions.
Andrew DiCristina - Director
Andrew DiCristina is thrilled to be returning to the "After Pluto" team. After witnessing the introduction of such great characters in the series' pilot, we can now explore their growth and relationships as the series progresses. This is a seriously talented cast and he is eager to collaborate with them on this journey.
Andrew is a writer and director, originally hailing from New England. He spent two years in Alaska as a photojournalist, taking time to explore stories in the Last Frontier. He loves to examine the human condition through both fiction and nonfiction; he also enjoys narratives with engaging, character-driven drama. Andrew could not be happier to be working with this group again.
Chase Studinski - "Wesson 'Wes' Welles"
Chase Studinski (Wes) joins the cast of "After Pluto" by way of his friend, Lane Allison (Truman). He is excited to be joining a team of creators who passionately believe in this project so much that they're willing to create it themselves, no matter what it takes.

He has also studied improv. at the iO West Theater & trained with Jean-Louis Rodrigue & Kristof Konrad in Alexander Technique. Jill Fouts - "Holly Craig"
Jill Fouts is elated to be a part of the cast of "After Pluto". Jill was drawn to the series because it provokes so many questions: What precious things were lost? What freedom was gained? How would a person move on from that?
On screen, Jill has appeared in "Mad Men" & "A Side Order of Life" as well as in McDonalds & Chuppa Chups commercials. On stage, she has appeared in LOST, Major Barbara, Speed the Plow, Scenes from an Execution, & Hedda Gabbler.
Mary Linda Phillips - "Jaqueline Welles"

Dottie in the film "Punching The Clown" & was Sister Agnes in "Stigmata". My favorite film experience, though, was the starring role of Anne, a homeless woman in the short film "Blinders", which won the Bronze Award at the Houston Film Festival.
Jennifer Sorenson - "Nina Welles"

Deb Snyder - "Phylis Frink"
Deb Snyder is delighted to join the ranks of “After Pluto” as Phylis, the nosey, next door neighbor with a big heart. Sporting a firm belief that Pluto got a bad break, just like Truman, Deb is excited to explore this world & work with the powerful creative team of Lane Allison & Sara Lafferty. Lane's writing is what drew Deb to this project. She is imaginative, funny, & not afraid of strong female characters & stories.
Deb collects strays: cats, dogs, & motorcycles. She has been in the business for a long time enjoying exciting moments of acting, singing, & songwriting - mainly for children with her creative partner Philip Bynoe as PBnDeb - & riding her motorcycle up the Angeles Crest Highway. She bakes the world’s ugliest dog cookies, but her dogs don’t seem to mind. And, it’s been said that she is famous in China due to working with Ang Lee in the film “Pushing Hands”.
