Story
Mission Statement
"Boomers" is about active, vital people of all races, genders and ethnicities, who just happen to be sorta old. We're still here. We have things to say. We're good at what we do and intend to keep on doing it. The fact that Season 1 was created and performed by baby boomers is our proof of concept!About The Project
After the successful completion of Season 1, we're ready to launch our next season of Boomers, with the great comedy that our fans have come to expect. We completed eight episodes of Season 1 on a shoestring (literally), mostly through the generosity of college equipment, students, and locations. Despite these funding challenges, we've started garnering festival laurels, which we're proud of.
Traditional comedy sitcoms are having an incredible revival, in reboots such as The Connors, Murphy Brown, The Goldbergs and other laught track multi-cam shows that disappeared for decades. Comedies that families loved, given their hilarious but heartfelt truths about life.
We're excited for the opportunity to bring you another great season of Boomers that we hope will be loved by all generations, including grandkids and millenials who may recognize the oldies in the family mix are #NotDeadYet... at least not without a lesson or two about keeping it real. Or maybe that's the other way round?
The Boomers series, at approximately seven minutes per episode, is available for free on our Boomers YouTube Channel.
Boomers follows a retired couple - Al and Ruth - and their neighbours Dennis and Carol as they cope with becoming 'elderly'. The series pays homage to shows that are familiar to audiences from the boomer generation, such as The Honeymooners and I Love Lucy. These well loved shows always included a main couple and their neighbours in one shenanigan or another, learning the value of friendship over a series of mishaps.
The many sitcom reboots going on now prove there's an audience and fanbase for these stories, as well as for our actors who hail from popular shows in the seventies, eighties and nineties, like E.R, The Love Boat and Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman.
Like The Conners, Boomers will include contemorary twists, such as adult kids moving back home, having to return to work since retirement income isn't cutting it, and those better-late-than-never decisions to pursue dormant dreams.
We plan to film six more fun-filled episodes in Season 2, with the ongoing goal of providing more programming options for older farts like us. We'll be bringing back all of our great talent, and have some exciting new cast additions to announce.
Ultimately we'd love to expand this show into a television series. With extra funding, we plan to amp up our production value, pay our crew members and get some extra lighting and camera gear, plus bring you another fantastic season.
Our $12,000 fundraising goal would cover the 12-day production costs of Season 2 @ $2000 per episode. Any additional funds would go toward post-production and sound.
This series is about boomers, written, directed and produced by boomers. The leading roles are also acted by boomers.
As you'll see on our "Team" page, we're seasoned producers with a lot of credits and awards under our late middle-aged belts. And like the characters in our show, we want to stay vital on both sides of the camera, because we're #NotDeadYet!
Go to our "Team" page to learn more about our cast and crew who will continue from Season 1. For Season 2, we're excited to introduce these two talented gents:
If you’re a Boomer, you’ll recognize Ted Lange as the friendly bartender Isaac from Love Boat. But as you'll see on our 'Team' page, Ted has done a lot more since then, both in front and behind the camera.
In Boomers Season 2, Ted will take on the role of Perry Jarvis, Chair of the History and Social Sciences Dept. at the college where Al teaches.
John W. Lawson is an actor and producer, known for American Horror Story, Super, and Pursuing Happiness. He has starred in many other film and TV series, including You Did What? (which he also directed), Westworld, and The Strivers.
In Boomers Season 2, John – a double amputee - will play Captain Tom Crowder, a Vietnam vet and new neighbor of the Suttons and Burlesons.
We SO appreciate your contributions and hope you enjoy the perks we've created for you.

BOOMERS CAST
Mike Genovese as Al Sutton
Mike plays to the role of a curmudgeon coping with the challenges of retirement with adult children still underfoot. Genovese has appeared in many films such as two Richard Pryor's Jo Jo Dancer, Your Life Is Calling (1986) and Harlem Knights, which also co-starred Eddie Murphy, Redd Foxx and Della Reese, and guest roles on TV series such as The Dukes of Hazzard, Star Trek:The Next Generation, Family Matters, NYPD Blue, Quantum Leap, Arli$$, ER, Chicago Hope and JAG, just to mention a few. For ER, Genovese appeared in a recurring role as Officer Al Grabarsky, where he appeared opposite his real life wife, actress Ellen Crawford (who is also cast as his wife in Boomers).
Ellen Crawford as Ruth Sutton
Ellen plays Al's super cool and patient wife (as she is in real life!). As the efficient Nurse Lydia Wright on the NBC series ER, Ellen Crawford had the distinction of uttering its first line. Her character went on to marry Sgt. Al Grabarski, played by her real-life husband, Mike Genovese. Nurse Lydia was on staff at fictional County General Hospital for ten seasons, then returned for the series finale in an homage to the first scene of the pilot. Ellen received four SAG Awards for Best Ensemble and the TVLand Icon Award for ER. Ellen has guest starred on Grey’s Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, Mental, Without A Trace, Boston Legal and CSI, as well as many other shows. Find out more about Ellen here.

Dory as herself (until a character name is chosen by you!)
Dory made her film debut in a cameo role on the first season of Boomers, and we look forward to her return on Season 2. One would never guess her future as an actress from her humble beginnings as an orphan pup wandering the streets of Lake Elsinore. Luckily, Mike and Ellen Crawford took her in. Contrary to popular opinion, she was not named for a fish – rather, she was named after Ellen’s maternal grandfather, Doremus Nealeigh Imboden (they called him Shorty). Dory has often taken to the streets with Mike and Ellen for social justice causes. She was even featured in the LA County Federation of Labor website for a Labor Day Parade, riding in her labor float!
Ted Lange as Perry Jarvis
If you’re a Boomer, you’ll recognize Ted Lange as the friendly bartender Isaac from Love Boat. But Ted has done a lot more since then, both in front and behind the camera. While continuing to work extensively in film and television, he expanded his role onto the stage as a writer/director/producer/actor, earning several wards including the Renaissance Man Theatre Award from the NAACP and the Paul Robeson Award from AFI. He has also directed numerous television episodes for shows like The First Family, Mr. Box Office, Are We There Yet? and Players at the Poker Palace. In Boomers Season 2, Ted will take on the role of Perry Jarvis, Chair of the History and Social Sciences Dept. at the college where Al teaches.
