Five hopelessly naïve roommates band together to overcome the simplest of tasks. Social decency; conventional wisdom; basic scientific facts – nothing will stop them from their eternal pursuit of the holy trinity: Sex, Snacks and Netflix.

Story
About The Project
This show is a love letter to the child-like spirit deep in our hearts. The selfish, Freudian Id within us all. That voice that, despite our wanting to run the world and achieve every dream, cries out for us to quit caring and veg out on the couch forever. I want to celebrate that indulgent, vice-driven impulse; to put it out for the world to see, pump it full of steroids and let it loose to rampage the city. I want to make a show where we take the childlike nature in all of us and push it towards the absurd, then stand back and laugh at the results.
What kind of chaos would ensue? What if we never lost that child-like imagination as we grew up and learned to solve life's mundane challenges? What if we paid rent, got groceries, and managed personal hygiene with the same imagination & zeal with which we once fought pirates in our backyards and leapt from couch to couch above a carpet that had magically become lava?
I wanted to tell that story through a group of fun, flawed, but always loyal friends. The friends that become your family, your tribe; who understand you’re more than a boastful, victory lap Facebook post.
Our generation is unique: we have infinite choices at our fingertips and can make those choices at a million megabytes per second. But all of that convenience, all of those choices, are overwhelming, as absurd as that may be. Maybe the solution, then, is to have child-like fearlessness and a gang of friends that may be equally bewildered, but are still willing to jump in with you and thrash until something happens. And if you do fail, those friends will be there to take pictures of how ridiculous you look, post them online, and then help you back up.
Lastly, but just as important, I wanted to have a social structure that reflected the world around me, not the one depicted by 99% of sitcoms on TV. I live in a world where my women friends have jobs, pay rent, and get promotions, but can’t wait to come home, throw on pajama pants and watch Netflix. A world of strong leading ladies that run the show but can still be total screw ups. And at the same time, a world where my guy friends (and myself on several occasions) sit around in our underwear (and nothing else) playing GTA V, but when we absolutely have to, we’ll suck it up, put on some pants and do the dishes.
I wanted to create a show that told the story of people I know. Slobs, begrudgingly becoming humans, in the most heroic fashion. And DOIN’ STUFF!

Current Team
About This Team
When I first set out to assemble the cast and crew of DOIN' STUFF!, the most important criteria was working alongside generous, hardworking people. I knew that accomplishing the monumental task of making an independent web series would mean depending on my team members every minute of every step along the way. I am very lucky that I studied at The Theatre School at DePaul University, where I met so many passionate, absurdly talented artists. Although it was not intentional, the entire cast AND our director all ended up being fellow alumni of The Theatre School. Their patience, enthusiasm, and willingness to step in and help on set have been the invaluable lifeblood of this project. They've even gone above and beyond, connecting us with crew members throughout Chicago that they know who can come join us. I couldn't have asked for a better team and I can't wait to see what they can accomplish.
Reshmi Hazra Rustebakke (director) has a BFA from NYU and an MFA in Directing from DePaul University. She is a recipient of the Robert Moss Directing Residency at Playwrights Horizons as well as an Artist of Color Fellow at New York Theatre Workshop. In Chicago she has worked with Redtwist, Timeline, Chicago Shakes and many more theaters. Her latest project was on the production team for You're So Talented. Coming up, she begins production for the feature film Olympia: An Instruction Manual for How Things Work.
Sabrina Harms (co-writer, Sabrina) is an actor, singer, and animal whisperer from Colorado and Middle Earth (New Zealand... but let's be real, Middle Earth). She recently starred in the indie feature film The Immediate Unknown and can currently be seen in El Stories: Heroes, regailing the audience with tales of her exploits in bear-fighting. When not working on her craft, she turns into a dragon, curls up in her horde of books, and successfully torches any hobbits or dwarves that come her way (unlike Smaug).
Sarah Price (Annie) is a writer, improviser, actor and has somehow over the last year become a tea person (which, WHAT. How??). A couple Chicago theaters have let her on their stage, including A Red Orchid, Remy Bumppo, Lifeline, and Strawdog, as well as The Goodman (but only briefly before she was escorted out). Sarah is a graduate of the iO Training Program, is a current Conservatory student at Second City and she was also trapped in a helicopter on Chicago Fire that one time. Oh, and because she subscribes to the multiverse theory, on some alternate timeline where her parents are slightly crueler and decided to hyphenate their last names, she is Sarah Rice-Price.
Camden Brown (Max) is a hairy native of the forests of New Hampshire and has spent the last three years as a knight at Medieval Times in Schaumburg, IL. Whether its jousting, sword fighting, or flirting with ladies in the crowd, Sir Camden can be seen performing at his majesty's castle all throughout the year. In his spare time he has the joy of being a single father to his two furry sons Perkins and Sterling. Yes, they are cats. He is also a big fan of AMC theater's $5 Tuesday deal.
Stephanie Andrea Barron (Erica) grew up in the heart of Orlando, Florida and moved to Chicago where she graduated with a BFA in Acting from The Theatre School at DePaul University and a BFA in Psychology. She starred as the titular lead in Court Theatre's production of Iphigenia in Aulis and was saved from a car wreck on NBC's Chicago Fire - but she's no victim. On the contrary, as a member of The Society of American Fight Directors she's certified to kick butt with half a dozen weapons. Keep that in mind if you're thinking about teasing her for eating gluten-free.
Cory Kahane (co-writer, Cory) is an actor/singer/writer, originally from the SF Bay Area of California. He is best known for the role of Scott Mulvaney in the Lifetime Original Film The Cheating Pact. His work can also seen on Netflix (Bad Johnson), as well as the viral YouTube commercial "KFC Corsage". He is currently performing onstage as Jonah in Bad Jews, which just celebrated it's 100th performance in Chicago. When not acting, he practices ukulele, builds computers and writes this entire crowdfunding web page right now (awkward...) -
