GOOD GIRL is a story for anyone who has had to fight to be true to themselves. Harper, a Latina teenager, combats the stereotypes from her peers at a party. She meets a kindred outcast, Nina, and the two find solace in each other after they share a secret that goes beyond skin-deep.
Inclusion StatementGOOD GIRL aims to challenge the preconceived notions of race stereotyping, fat shaming, and mental illness. We are committed to the stories of diverse women and their voices in front of and behind the camera. 60% of the Good Girl crew is comprised of women, including important production heads.
About The Project
A Note from the Director:
We are all shaped by where we grew up. Some people look back on their childhoods and remember laughing and rolling through fields of grass. Others gravitate towards a tragedy or the first moment the they discovered that the picture of their life risks spiraling out of control. The positivity or the negativity from these moments effect us, and from that, we begin creating the foundation for the rest of our lives.
For many, their coming of age moment is where they learned that they didn't fit in their community. And these stories happen the most often, but in different forms depending on the individual.
What every human being craves is the opportunity to surround themselves with people who share their values and ideals. A community they can connect with - people who will be there for them during life's darkness and life's light. Good Girl protagonist, Harper, goes to this party to try to make friends. Nina goes to feel a little less alone. And even Michael, the antagonist of the story, hosts a party to create a community for himself while his parents left him behind for the weekend.
Good Girl is about the power of connection and how fragile our relationship's with each other actually are. It's about those who have been outcast and are looking for a home. To lift our voices up, together.
