#What'sTheStory?
Kira and Lauren used to be best friends in high school, however their friendship withered after graduation. Fifteen years later, they are two completely different people, struggling to find their true paths, as well as make a living. Kira is fighting to save her boxing gym from bankruptcy, while Lauren is stuck hosting an absurd Instagram TV talk show. Fate brings them together once again, when they crash into each other at the parking lot of the building they both ended up working in.

Their friendship picks up exactly where it left off, only this time Kira has to face her feelings and let someone else into her personal life, while Lauren is forced to look past her own appearance and help a friend in need.
#WhyThisStory?
The unpredictable nature of female friendships personally always amazed me. One day we're ready to share our innermost secrets, desires and fears. On another, we close off, compare and endlessly measure ourselves against one another, struggling to realize how truly unique and beautiful each and every one of us is.
I wanted to tell an entertaining and somewhat uncensored story of this bizzare friendship between two opposites (because, let's face it, all of the best friendships end up being truly bizzare in nature), that will hopefuly leave people feeling good about who they truly are, without any need to hide behind appearances.
#SupportingWomenInComedy
We're living in most amazing times, when female voices are finally being heard, especially in comedy. I strongly feel that we, women, should use each and every opportunity to show how truly goofy, talented and unique we all are. By investing in this small, but feisty project you're also supporting and inspiring every woman out there to get up and tell her own unique and hopefully bizarre story.

About This Team

Xenia Leblanc graduated from Queen Mary University of London with a BA Degree in Film Studies. After graduation she moved to Los Angeles to begin intensive acting training at Playhouse West School and Repertory Theatre, as well as New York Film Academy. Her big on-screen break came when she landed the role of Young "Red" on the critically acclaimed NETFLIX original series "Orange Is The New Black" playing 'Young Red' (Kate Mulgrew), followed by an opportunity to work on the WB blockbuster Justice League.
Xenia constantly writes, produces and dicrects her own projects. Her comedy channel Broken English , that she co-created with her partner, gained nation-wide and online recognition, bringing her to NYC Independent Film Festival and featuring one of its projects on Elizabeth Bank's online platform WhoHaHa.

Kelly Russo is an actor, producer, dancer, model, and tv show host. You may have seen her as Beth on Showtime’s, I’m Dying Up Here, opposite Brad Garrett and Academy Award winner, Melissa Leo. She also hosted her own show, DTLA Talks, which aired on Direct TV. Kelly is an avid storyteller and people person. She enjoys giving back to younger artists as she teaches ballet and mentors elementary school screen writers. Gritty & Pretty was conceived on a “leisure” hike up to Griffith Observatory one hot winter day in Los Angeles. We can’t wait to show it to you!
