Jaráraca is a passion project that brings together a diverse group of filmmakers to tell the story of a woman who is forced to face a terrible revelation that disrupts her entire reality. What happens when you find out your entire life was based on a lie? Who do you root for when no one is a hero?
Keep it Colorful
Inclusion StatementThe cast and crew of Jaráraca are dedicated to breaking down barriers for women and minorities in film and television. From our Creator and Lead Actress to the production team, crew members and cast, we are committed to representing and including women and minorities at all levels.
About The Project
What starts as just another assignment becomes the catalyst that upends everything Jaráraca has ever known. Her search for the truth leads her to confront her own past, and sets her on a collision course with the only family she knows.
Our story follows Jaráraca, a woman who was trained from a young age to be an elite spy and assassin, as she attempts to balance the wrongs she has committed by standing up for the helpless, and by taking down those who would prey on the most vulnerable of society. Along the way, she is aided by some unlikely allies, develops new relationships that challenge her perceptions, and faces her own demons. Her journey culminates in a showdown with the very people who made her what she is.
Why a Series?
Jaráraca has taken many forms over the years, but it always came back to being a series. Unfortunately, our story never really fit the network television model. The world shows the darkest aspects of humanity, and the characters don’t play by the rules of polite society. Online platforms offer the freedom and flexibility to tell our story our way.
Jaráraca is a story that has been over 5 years in the making. I first envisioned her during a photo shoot, and knew that she had a story to tell. She danced around in the back of my mind, just waiting to be brought to life. It took some time, but I was finally able to get her story into the right hands and build a team that has the same faith in her as I do.
I have always loved the feeling I get when I watch a film or a series that inspires me to try something new, or something I may have been afraid of trying before, both as an actor and as a viewer. I especially love when I see someone that I can relate to portraying a character I can believe in. When I was young, I didn’t see women that looked like me on screen - not in leading roles, and not as action stars.
Jaráraca’s story is one of discovery, of finding strength when everything falls apart, of adapting to a new reality, and of beating the odds despite the hand you have been dealt. I hope that you love her as much as I do, and that by the end you are ready to root for her - even if she isn’t exactly a hero.
