We are seeking funding for our unique Horror film which features a monster never before seen in the history of cinema. To do this right we need lots of money for a sizable practical special effects budget. We already have the PERFECT location and are chomping at the bit to start production.
Inclusion StatementMonstershines focuses on a racially, sexually and econimicaly diverse group of young women trying to make it in a male dominated entertainment industry. These heroic women face myriad forms of sexual harassment from both men in positions of power and the terrifying monster trying to kill them.
About The ProjectNubile young women with hopes and dreams, struggling to make it in the entertainment industry, preyed upon by powerful men determined to take advantage of them. It’s an age old story that for the past year has been slathered across the nation’s headlines and consciousness. And everyday it seems a new disturbing chapter is penned as the parade of sexual harassers, many of them men once admired, respected and even feared, marches on with no apparent end in sight. Ironically it was only a few weeks before the Harvey Weinstein story broke, unleashing a deluge that would suddenly swamp Hollywood, when we began shopping around a horror screenplay that tackled that very subject in a remarkably innovative way that we think is both incredibly entertaining and shockingly terrifying. The script’s basic premise is familiar enough to anyone who has seen his or her share of horror films: a group of people (typically horny teens or college kids) travel to a remote locale and, after the obligatory comedic hijinx and sexual shenanigans, encounter a deadly monster that proceeds to stalk and kill them until there’s only one or two lucky survivors left to face-off against the creature in the inevitable climatic showdown. But what if instead it was the cast and crew of a reality TV show about a faded Hollywood bad boy who’s searching for love amongst a group of female contestants, which includes a movie actress whose career has hit the skids, a reality TV star obsessed with her social media image, a former mixed martial arts champion who recently lost her crown, and a porn star with real acting aspirations who travel to the aforementioned remote locale and encounter a truly original and horrifying monster never before seen in motion picture history? In Monstershines the women characters are forced to play sexual politics with the men who have the power to determine their fate on the show, men who are more than willing to abuse that power to get what they want, especially the show’s pugnacious producer, a Weinstein-like sleazebag of Trumpian proportions. But once the titular monster appears on scene it becomes a game of pure survival as all the characters are now preyed upon by something far more menacing, and far more deadly, than any Hollywood big shot. And it’s ultimately because of the absurdly audacious physiognomy of the monster – “The monster with the murderous libido!” – that we are forced to fend for financing outside of the Hollywood studio system. Because no established Tinseltown player would ever have anything to do with a script that features a monster like ours, and because we are unwilling to alter our creature to please mainstream sensibilities, we have decided to crowd fund our film in the hope of bringing Monstershines to life the way we have always envisioned.Think of it, you can play a part in producing the horror movie Hollywood is too scared to make!
