Written and directed by a woman, Not Normal, a particularly relevant story in the post-Weinstein revelation world, follows James Ford as she confidently and humorously navigates a toxic work environment rife with sexism, double standards, and blurred boundaries.
Inclusion StatementNot Normal focuses on what one woman confronts in the workplace. Sadly, some version of James’ story is true for many women. Our writer, director, and producer, Carrie Morrison, is passionate about telling stories that focus on strong female characters.
About The Project
Not Normal, told from the intimate perspective of James Ford, an assistant to an all-male leadership team, is a comedic web series that’s especially relatable for anyone who has ever worked in an office. James, a recent college graduate dedicated to doing her job well, quickly learns corporate America is anything but professional. With her need to fight back and fearless ability to call out people in power, she offers her own unique balls out take on the harassment, office politics, blurred boundaries, sexism, and double standards she encounters on a daily basis. When she’s not joking around, James tells it like it is, even when people aren’t interested in hearing it. In today’s new world order, she’s the badass we need.

About This Team
Carrie Morrison / Writer / Director / Producer
After graduating from the University of Wisconsin - Madison with a degree in Creating Writing, Carrie moved to New York City to work at IMG Models. As Head of the Creative Department, her responsibilities included compiling top models' composite cards, portfolios, and fashion show packages. As a result, she developed a critical eye for photography. Having previously fallen in love with Europe when she studied in Rome while an undergraduate, Carrie then decided to get her Master's degree in Sociology from the University of Amsterdam. Her Master's thesis delved into the consequences of gender, race, and sexual orientation passing. Since moving to Los Angeles, Carrie’s focus has been on telling stories. She enjoys writing and directing, frequently finding time to experiment with different genres. Carrie tries to find the humor in any situation, but when people tell her she should do stand up, she tells them she’s shy.
