The steelpan is the only acoustic instrument invented in the 20th century. "Panomundo" explores the history of the steelpan from its origins in the ghetto of Trinidad & Tobago to its influence in popular communities in New York City, Toronto, London, Tokyo, Bern (Switzerland), and Abuja (Nigeria).

Story
About The Project
The Caribbean culture needs more attention. What we are trying to do is highlight a sound that can be heard in 50 Cent's "P.I.M.P," The Little Mermaid's "Under the Sea," and "Kokomo," by the Beach Boys, to name a few. That sound originated from Trinidad & Tobago and has been embraced by those who have no idea the struggles behind it.
- Keith Musaman Morton
When you say "Caribbean," people think of the beaches, tropical weather, island blends of food and music. For the music, reggae comes to the forefront, but there is also the steelpan.
Steelpan music has soared off the island and now stands among numerous countries of the world. By completing Panomundo, we will be able to fully record the emigration of the steelpan from Trinidad & Tobago to the entire world.
