Story
About The Project
Like the intersecting paths of its orbiting characters, Perihelion is, for me, a layered and paralleled effort across multiple fronts. Chiefly among these, bringing together the most talented group of people we can to share in, collaborate with, and even create anew under a project that has been close to our hearts for quite some time. For myself, it is about bearing to the world a story about stories: a dramatic account under a lightly veiled guise of science fiction exploring our connections to those we meet; our personal narratives with the people we grow close to, sometimes love, and inevitably fall away from. Perihelion is about chance encounters, and the feeling that it could have never happened any other way.

About This Team
Jacob Stencil: Director, Writer
Jacob was born and raised in Wausau, Wisconsin where he developed his love for cinema, literature, and visual media. After graduating from Wausau West High School, Jacob enrolled at the University of Iowa where he is currently working towards dual degrees in English and Cinema. This is his feature-length narrative debut.
Michael Collier: Producer, Cinematographer
After growing up abroad in Europe, Michael attended high school in Bethesda, Maryland where his interests in Photography and Creative Writing were encouraged. He got his first job as an intern with Freed Photography where he learned some of the finer points of camerawork and business promotion.
Tyler Rehmann: Editor
Tyler Rehmann is from Naperville, Illinois. His passion and focus are aimed at becoming a film editor and a professional in the industry. He is currently enrolled at the University of Iowa where he is pursuing a degree in Cinema.
Jaime Tijerina: Assistant Director
Jaime Tijerina was born in McAllen, a small town in southern Texas. He is currently enrolled on full scholarship at the University of Iowa where he is finishing his degree in English with a minor in Gender Studies.
