Radical Roots: The Story of a Food Revolution
The Twin Cities boasts the strongest local food scene in the US, centered on the country's largest food co-op network. Radical Roots is the tale of the inexperienced young people who built this system, the violent struggle that nearly tore them apart, and their activist heirs today.

About The Project
We want to:
Honor the activists who created our natural food co-ops.
Share the lessons they learned in their efforts.
Provoke reflection and discussion on the best way to make our food system more sustainable, healthy and just.
Inspire people to cooperate to make it happen.
We hope our film will inspire co-op members to investigate the founding of their own co-ops, drawing out stories and inspiration from their forbears, and expanding the availability of materials relating to co-op history. We believe our film will spark conversations about equity and justice, and that it will give heart to hard-working activists building a sustainable food system for our future.
