Story
Inclusion Statement
Real Adult Humans is executive produced by a twenty-two year old woman, NOT an 86 year old white man who's yet to be “Me-Too’ed.” She’s assembled a team filled with hilarious women, feminist men, and people of color who think that awareness of our society’s hierarchy makes for the best comedy.About The Project
In college, Shannon founded Middlebury Discount Comedy, the college's first sketch group, and Pete and Greg were her first two disciples. After graduating college, the trio moved to LA, bound and determined to keep writing comedy.
With a team consisting of only two white men, Shannon decided to venture out. From years of doing comedy at a liberal arts college, she had learned the value of empowering women to feel funny and encouraging diverse perspectives in the writer's room.
What had been missing, however, was diversity of representation. So, she started getting coffees like a madwoman. Reconnecting with an old friend from acting camp, Shannon laughed with Lily Kennedy about how out of control it felt to be a 15-year-old actress under the gaze of old white male directors. When Shannon served Eshaana Sheth a capuccino in a chance encounter four months ago, Eshaana expressed concern about the whiteness and maleness of sketch comedy, and Shannon nodded vehemently, but was determined to create a different space.
In the end, what we all shared was a vision for a free, inclusive space for women and people of color to take up just as much space as funny white dudes and speak openly and even be silly about important feminist concepts.
Since then, the team has started meeting three times a week and formed a tight-knit, albeit peculiar, family, commited to woke sex jokes. Every sketch has been written over several sessions with special care given to the political implications of the joke; Shannon learned in college about the value of "punching up" vs. "punching down" in comedy and is commited to asking the question, "why are we laughing?" Some sketches include, "Mansplaining Detective" and a Bachelor sketch called, "Will You Eat This Rose?"
We have a whole season of eight sketches ready for you guys, and all we need is your help to shoot over three days in December! Please help us making this fever dream a reality and gently court Real Adult Humans.

Current Team
About This Team
Meet the Humans!
Shannon Gibbs (Exec Producer, Writer, Actor) considers herself a young Lorne Michaels in the making, but doesn’t wish to apprentice under an old white man to get there. Subversive since the ripe age of 3, interests include thinking really hard about comedy and just generally being in charge. Recent indie credits include a short film called Diving (Associate Producer) and a sketch called Beauty and the East (Associate Producer/Script Supervisor). She also founded her own sketch group and standup series in college, before duping her friends into coming to LA with her!Peter Lindholm (Head Writer, Actor) could have been a contender! But since he isn’t, he graduated from Middlebury College in Vermont this spring, where, in addition to almost learning how to do a cartwheel, he met Greg and Shannon and started a sketch comedy group with them. Now they effectively lured him to Los Angeles using the steak-attached-to-a-fishing-pole-trick from cartoons. He has no credits, accomplishments or notable events in his life (yet.)
Kacey Mayeda (associate producer, 1st AD, writer, actor) was 10 years old when she decided she was going to stop acting. “I’ll branch out,” she said, as passerby stared at her for talking to herself, “I’ll try sports or something.” In the following 12 years, Kacey did not play a single sport. She did not even learn how to ride a bike until she was a teenager. What she did do was continue to act, produce, write, direct, and otherwise sacrifice her soul to the theatre. She’s still trying to escape to this day. (Please help me)
Greg Swartz (Head Director, Writer, Actor) is happy to be creative in LA. It’s easy to get caught up in the fast life, but he’s lucky to have his guinea pig, Ajax, to keep him grounded even when he gets guac on his burrito. He graduated with a degree in theatre from Middlebury College where he served as Head Director of Middlebury Discount Comedy. Acting credits include: Fool for Love, God of Carnage, Stupid Fucking Bird, and saying his paper got deleted by accident and didn’t save somehow.
David Stewart (Producer, AC, Sage/Guru) is an educator with over twenty years of experience teaching and advising secondary school students. He has an extreme passion for the art of storytelling. In addition to writing picture books, Mr. Stewart is an accomplished filmmaker who has screened his films at festivals throughout the world.
Pedro Bitar (Director of Photgraphy) first fell in love with filmmaking after watching a video of himself dancing to Avril Lavigne. However, after facing a wave of cyberbullying, Pedro decided to step behind the camera. Now Pedro hopes to use media as a means to ignite a positive socio-cultural change, particularly in regards to the LGBTQ+ community. His interests include worrying way too much about the future, and his favorite hobby is doing literally anything to forget the future. He currently works at The Simpsons, and has previously made several award-winning short films.
Lily Kennedy (Writer, Actor, 2nd AD) is an 87 year old Staten Island grandmother stuck in the body of a 22 year old from St. Louis, Missouri. When she isn’t reciting the Shakespeare monologues beaten into her by college theatrics, Lily is an actor, screenwriter, and playwright. Most recently, she wrote and starred in the web series INT. LILY KENNEDY, based on the epic dumpster fire that is her life. She’s also written and directed a feature film, Flexed, but that’s nothing compared to the accomplishment of playing Juror #12 in her high school production of Twelve Angry Men.
Anjali Subramanian Raghunathan (Writer, Script Supervisor) has a really hard time spelling her name over the phone for people. She’s also an aspiring drama writer. What…? “Drama,” you say?? What are you doing in a sketch group, ya silly goose? (<--How she imagines her future agent will sound.) In reality, she hates constraints and loves blending genres to create her own style of irreverent, self-aware, ironic-but-authentic tragicomedy. Coupled with her degree in Comparative Literature (specializing in Classical Lit and Adaptation), this makes her supremely unemployable, both outside and inside Hollywood.
James Hare (Audio Guy/ Wild Card) is a famed music producer from the streets of Budolph Acres, Middlebury VT. His self described genre of choice is psychedelic boom-trap. He is best known for his work with household name artists, Young Ham, Debby Chainz and Mick Mooney among others. Credits include Money Storm (producer), Ball or Nothing (producer) as well as Secret Task Force Unit (actor/ composer). When James isn’t making bangers in the studio he spends much of his time wandering the Canadian wilderness searching for the meaning of life.
Eshaana Sheth (Writer, Actor, Creative Consultant) accidentally ended up in LA 4 years ago after her scholastic achievements in anthropology left her with intellectual functions that had no practical or vocational application. After failed attempts to move to abroad, she realized that storytelling was the perfect heat sink to absorb her “soft skills” since she cannot code or use an oven. In addition to her theatrical work as a playwright and actress, Eshaana has been featured on feature films and has written and produced short films including her award-winning directorial debut, The Butter Knife (2018), which was loosely inspired by her non-existent dating life. Her work, much like Eshaana herself, explores the weirdness in otherwise banal situations. She likes analyzing topical themes at the macro level through the lens of individual relationships, culture, and the lived experience. When not doing film stuff, Eshaana freelances as a model and records herself doing impressions of celebrities while parked at the grocery store.
Sean Jacobson (Assistant Camera, Head Editor, Writer, Actor)
Sean Jacobson dates Olivia Christie, who did sketch comedy with Pete, Greg, and Shannon in college. He also cannot be trusted to write his own bio and instead copy and pasted the wiki page for the zodiac killer. Shannon did not feel this was on brand.
Nick Barker (Assistant Camera, Sound, Whatever) is an alumnus of Middlebury College, where he double-majored in Economics, studying the greats such as Adam Smith and David Ricardo, and Film and Media Culture, studying the greats such as The Bachelor and Bend It Like Beckham. After graduation, Nick moved to LA to pursue a career in the film industry, but naturally, as a chronic non-gamer, he accidentally ended up as an executive assistant at an esports company. Esports, where kids LITERALLY get paid to play video games. Nick still likes to find time to screenwrite, when he is not too busy trying to decide what to order on Uber Eats.
