About The Project
SIDETRACKED: follows the tribulations of a group of thirtysomethings, whose lives are not going to plan. We follow Evelyn, Leigh, Jess, and Vance on an average Monday as they juggle the LA hustle of work, love, and traffic. Each episode concentrates on one character but we quickly learn how intertwined their lives are as they try to make it in an industry obsessed with the next best and younger thing.
Sidetracked is unique in that a full season occurs in one day. The first four episodes are each characters’ morning, second four episodes are late afternoon and the last four are the evening. Season 2 will be another day in these four friends lives. A SIDETRACKED season can flash forward or backward in time, which allows for a fuller version of how friendships evolve and possibly dissolve on one particular day.
This show is for every thirtysomething whose looked on Facebook and thought, “What have I done with my life?” All of your friends have kids, mortgages, and vacations plans, while you are looking in the glove compartment to find change to buy guacamole at Chipotle. Our thirties are supposed to be our time to get our act together, find our true purpose, meet our soul mates, but some of us got a little SIDETRACKED.
We have been fortunate enough to shoot our first EIGHT episodes with a lot of determination, patience, and uber driving. We now need your help to produce THE FINAL FOUR!!! They are written and ready to go! SIDETRACKED was written, directed and produced by E.D.Brown, an African-American women who decided she didn’t fit into the box Hollywood deemed appropriate. She loves telling stories about women who from a societal standard might act inappropriately or unladylike but they are just being truthful to their wants, desires, and circumstances. She wrote SIDETRACKED as a love letter to her insanely talented friends in order to give them an opportunity to showcase their comedic and dramatic range and tackle themes that sparked her curiosity. Filmmaking is often an act of waiting for permission to perform your craft. The SIDETRACKED team decided not to wait but execute, persist and create a show against all odds. SIDETRACKED is also an example of the collabortive spirit of filmaking. From our exceptional cast to our dedicated crew, everyone has been an essential part in the realization of the show. The SIDETRACKED cast and crew have become a family determined to see the project through to the end. We'd love for you to join are merrimaking and help us get SIDETRACKED completed and out into the world.
Evelyn wakes up, in the foreign land of Van Nuys, to the relentless texting of her boss. She is a personal assistant who must navigate LA retrieving mindless items at the detriment of her own personal life and professional goals
Leigh can’t seem to get on the same page as her husband. She wants to go out. He wants to stay in. She needs to have sex. He needs to go to work. At work even with her never-ending cast of crazies, everything goes her way. She glides in an out of situations like the professional, which catches the eye of a handsome and famous photographer whose advances could change the trajectory of her career.
Jess is a planner. She runs 6 miles every day, writes for four, and never eats cheese. She’s planned everything except for running to the bathroom to take a pregnancy test. Her perfectly planned life has gone haywire and she spends the day avoiding what the future may hold.
Vance has been up all night editing his next reality project when his boyfriend crashes his computer. Vance spends the afternoon at a genius bar, like a 1950s father in a waiting room, anxious to hear if his baby will be okay. When he returns home, sans computer, everything his boyfriend does or doesn’t do is a reason to argue.
Evelyn has finished her PA duties for the day and is enjoying perusing through magazines, listening to music, and getting ready for another night out. It’s looking like it is going to be a great night until she realizes she forgot the most important thing on her to-do list.
Leigh arrives home early to get ready for “The Thing”, where she will get some alone time with her new crush Donovan, only to have her loving husband insist that he come out as well.
Jess starts to spiral into a night of drunkenness to numb the fact that she is not where she wants to be in life. Her friends are starting to notice her uncharacteristic behavior but instead of telling them the real reasons behind her debauchery she chalks it up to needing a night out.
Vance returns to the computer store to pick up his computer only to find out that his boyfriend, who he has been financially supporting, has been stroking in the dollars on an internet porn site.
Everyone arrives at the party and as Evelyn B-lines for the bar she unexpectedly bumps into the guy she slept with last night. Sparks are not flying but they are with his best friend.
Leigh negotiates how to flirt with Donovan while her husband is at the same party. She wants to keep her crush on Donovan professional but sometimes the heart wants what the heart wants.
Vance can’t decide what to do about Chris and is asking everyone at the party for advice. He doesn’t know whether to confront or avoid the situation but must tackle it head on once Chris shows up.
Jess is having a great time at the party dancing, eating mac and cheese until she gets into a fight with an' IT Girl' and is dragged home to confront what she has been avoiding all day.

About This Team
E.D.Brown considers herself a tumbleweed. She spent her childhood moving across the United States never living in a place longer than two years at a time. Her unconventional upbringing showed her the wonders of the country and its people, but most of all it was the impetus of her creative life. Her sisters and she were always the new kids and would make up characters, dances, and plays to pass the time. E.D.Brown just never stopped.
Directly after graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, she was cast in the International percussion sensation STOMP. She toured the world with STOMP and upon returning to New York, refocused her performance career on acting. She worked with several theatre companies in New York City including The Classical Theatre of Harlem but was pulled West to Los Angeles to further her acting and writing career. E.D.Brown recently wrote, directed and produced eight episodes of her first show entitled SIDETRACKED, which chronicles the journey of a group of late thirty somethings whose lives are off course. E.D. Brown has also finished writing two feature films and is currently working on her third, a biopic about baseball legend Satchel Paige.
