About The Project

Room 1209 Productions, producer of Space Available Web Series, was formed in early 2014, by fellow actors and colleagues Patrick Avella, Rosa Rodriguez, and Ravin Patterson. The mission of the Room 1209 team, which now includes John Austin Wiggins, is to generate opportunities for themselves and their fellow artists through the creation, development, production, and distribution of original content for the internet, film, and TV.

Space Available marks the inaugural project for Room 1209 Productions. Inspired by Mr. Avella’s personal experiences working in a rehearsal studio, the series presents a realistic, poignant, and often humorous portrayal of the urban artistic struggle. With so much of mainstream media focused on reality competitions (where only the very “best” of the best succeed) and glamorized fictional depictions of the artistic life (Glee, Smash), Space Available offers a window into the quotidian - the daily, unglamorous, often frustrating lives of artists pursuing their art.

The world of Space Available represents a microcosm of New York City itself, peopled with a wide range of characters of various intentions. As such, we are not only telling the stories of the lives we as artists lead every day, but also those of the regular Joes and Janes of the city - stories that are human and relatable. Audiences who are creatives themselves will find characters that share in their own struggles. A larger audience across a spectrum of ages will identify with the realistic and relatable rendering of urban life emblematic of struggles we all face in life.

About This Team

Patrick Avella (Executive Director, Writer, Series Director, Actor): A natural born leader, Patrick is taking Room 1209 Productions to the next level, with instincts tailored-made for running a business. He is a motivator and knows how to command a room. His most valuable business trait may be that he also knows how to relinquish control and allow others to lead when needed. An intense actor, Patrick willingly and deftly explores the dark corners of the character's mind. His writing displays layers and themes that challenge normal ways of thinking. When directing Space Available, Patrick's style is that of a strategic champion chess player, while the ease with which he communicates with actors and crew makes for a groovy time on set.

Rosa Rodriguez (Executive Producer, Art Director, Casting Director, Actor): Rosa may very well be the soul of the company. A dedicated work horse, she completes any task given to her thoroughly with laser focus. When problem-solving, Rosa thinks outside the box, around the box, and even without a box! Her quiet modesty displays her humanity, which makes her an absolute joy to work with. Rosa has a raw acting talent that projects truth and honesty in any character she plays. She has an eye for directing and can articulate a thought in the most eloquent yet simplistic way possible.

Ravin Patterson (Producer, Writer, Actor): Ravin's passionate, driven mind thrives on challenges! Her exceptional business sense has her always envisioning the big picture and the enormous potential in both herself and the company. A wiz at thinking on her feet, Ravin can handle any unexpected situation that arises on a set or in the boardroom with grace, aplomb, and a cool head. Her creativity knows no bounds! As an actor she simultaneously projects confidence and vulnerability, while her writing displays the depth of her creativity through the unforgettable characters in desperate situations she brings to life.

John Austin Wiggins (Producer, Actor): John’s administrative skills are off the charts! A master of the follow-up and the follow-through, when given a task or project, he not only runs with it, he flies! He is a masterful wordsmith and an energetic spokesman. On the creative end, John is a committed actor who breathes life into a character from the moment the text is lifted off the page, while his hidden talent is that of a writer, which is swiftly making itself known!
