The Bond challenges the tropes often found in queer horror cinema. Here, the queers are the main characters-- they're not in the background-- they're not just victims-- they are survivors, and while they may be killers, you wonder if their murders are justified.
Inclusion StatementThe Bond was written by me- a latin-female- filmmaker. I wrote this project for people of color grappling with gender/sexual identity and depression- topics often taboo in latin communities. My project, although fiction, borrows from my own traumas navigating college & finding a sense of belonging.
About The Project
Sasha is a misfit. She's too lanky and too socially awkward. Overwhelmed with the stress of her first semester away at college, she makes a suicide attempt which lands her on 24/ hr suicide watch at the nearby psychiatric ward. Longing to escape the boredom of overnight suicide watch, she runs into Silo-- a reserved, yet blunt and witty part time orderely who attends the same college. As Sasha and Silo's friendship deepens, so does their trust. The ultimate test of friendship is at stake when Silo makes plans to enact revenge on a fellow classmate. As Sasha digs deeper into Silo's past, she finds herself torn between loyalty and morality.

Casting Director & Actress
Sasha is no novice in regard to horror and Sci-fi. Her passion for the genre is often showcased through cosplaying--- a craft that allows her to display her talents in SFX makeup and costume design. She enjoys portraying characters and archetypes that tell a story, often coming up with her own. Her background in anthropology also gives her insight into the complexities of the “human condition” which makes her an ideal casting director for this genre!
