The Disappointments Post Production Fundraiser
This summer we shot The Disappointments, a darkly comic webseries about a group of close gay friends in their late 50's who are dealing with the fact that their lives did not turn out the way they had hoped when they were starting out in their 20's. Now we're raising money to finish it.
Inclusion StatementThe Disappointments is about a racially diverse group of gay men in their 50's and early 60's facing how they've fallen short in their lives and wondering if they still have time to turn things around. These are not characters we see in media these days. But we're here and we have stories to tell.
About The Project
Imagine... you're in your 50's, and you take a hard look at your life - a life you hardly recognize - and you say, how did I get here? The dreams you had in your 20's of having a fulfilling career, lots of money, a beautiful home, traveling the world and being in a satisfying relationship with an amazing partner... none of it has come to pass. What do you do?
The Disappointments takes a darkly comic look at this question.
We spent this past July, August and September shooting our webseries, The Disappointments*. It was a fantastic experience and we captured tons of amazing footage to make a funny and sexy and entertaining and deeply moving show.
Now we need to raise a little more money to complete post-production so people can finally watch the finished product. These funds will be used to cover picture editing, color grading and correction, sound editing and mixing, ADR recording, SFX - all the technical, behind the scenes magic-stuff that makes for a polished and professional show. In addition, we'll also be adding a music score and a couple of pops songs to really make the series come alive.
A year ago, friends and strangers alike learned of our plan to make this webseries. Many related deeply to the subject matter - about older people looking at their lives, assessing, dealing with disappointments - and without even seeing a single frame, they backed us. They believed in the idea and wanted to see it brought to life. I was blown away by this unbelievable level of support and faith. Our backers were on my mind every day on the set. They fueled all of us - cast and crew - to swing for the fences and deliver the best show possible.
It would mean the world to me and to the rest of our team if you would help us finish the webseries. Any amount, large or small would help us reach our goal and get the show completed. On behalf of all of us, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you!

About This Team
James has been collaborating closely with Rich on “The Disappointments” since the project’s inception. His own acting career began in San Francisco’s comedy/improv scene and has taken him to New York, Los Angeles and literally, around the world. James was the Vocal Soloist with the San Francisco Ballet, has sung with Cheyenne Jackson at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, appeared off-Broadway as Frankie in FOREVER PLAID, and has been seen in countless regional productions, acting, singing and dancing, because he just loves performing, dammit! And yes, James is proud to admit that he was a featured singer on Princess Cruises for many years. Traveling and performing are his two biggest passions, so what better way to see the world than to nail a Barry Gibb vocal whilst on the high seas! Stayin’ Alive, indeed!
