A woman is sucked into the Game and, along with her sinister companions, must face the true horror behind it's creation in order to finally be free. The Game is a horror story with heart, it deals with fate, love, betrayal and the importance of knowing what really matters.
Inclusion StatementGet It Productions was founded by an African-American brother-sister team because they wanted to see more minority and gender representation in films. The Game is heavily female driven, with the producer, writer, cinematographer and lead characters all being women.
About The Project
Get It Productions was founded by brother-sister team Michael and Jeannette along with their friend Elizabeth to pursue their love of filmmaking.
Last year while brainstorming ideas, Elizabeth had the idea of a horror film about a game that traps you inside. Michael was inspired and that night he wrote the first draft of The Game, a horror short. After a few revisions we were ready to test it out! It was an ambitious project because it required a lot of SFX makeup which we hadn't really done before.
Many SFX YouTube videos later we were ready to go! We grabbed some friends and filmed a test of the Initiation scene, a pivotal point in the film where our protagonist learns her fate and meets the other players of the game. We learned a ton that weekend, especially around what worked and didn't work for the prosthetic makeup. For a laugh check out our pitch video above to see our attempt at SFX!
Armed with this knowledge we decided to film a concept video using professional makeup artists, actors and crew. We found some amazing fellow creators in NYC and we filmed the concept video in two days! We had a blast and came away with a concept video that visualizes the tone and look we were trying to convey with our script.
Now we have adapted the short script into a full feature length film! Filming is set for this November in Atlanta, Ga which is where we're from. But we need your help to make this the amazing horror film that we know it can be!
If you're reading this, you're probably a horror fan. We get it, as huge horror fans we believe there is nothing like a good horor movie. But unfortunately there is also nothing more rare! Netflix is filled with sub-par horror films, we know because we've watched them all! Either the concept was dumb, the production value was terrible or the ending ruined what could have been a decent movie.
We want The Game to be different. We are dedicated to making this the best film we can and that's where we need your help. Filming The Game as a horror short was the most expensive we've ever done, mostly due to the SFX makeup. But we can definitely agree it was worth every penny!
Making this a feature film will cost a lot more. But you can be sure that the money will be well spent on necessities like paying our actors and crew for their time, our SFX makeup artist, renting the gear we need to make our film look and sound like the professional project it is, hiring a good editor and all the post production expenses that comes after the Producer yells "That's a wrap!"
A lot goes into making films and we want you to be there with us every step of the way as we take what we've learned from making short films and working video projects to filming our first feature film. Please consider contributing to our campaign and help get The Game made!
Be sure to follow us for weekly updates on The Game and please make sure to share with other horror and film fans!
Feel free to reach out with any questions, we'd love to hear from you!
And because I know you've been dying to see it, here is the final concept video we filmed in NYC!
