The Past is Going to Suck
The history of the 20th century is ALL WRONG! Please! Time travelers! Don't make it worse! Check out Peter Wick's three previous festival award winning films (on Amazon), and his books! Together we can save time from...TIME TRAVELERS! Based on Wick's hilarious book.
Inclusion StatementWhile this is a comedy, it is also history. We set out to treat certain aspects of history (the Civil Rights movement, for example) with absolute respect. Some things we will not joke about. We save the sarcasm for those who were too slow to recognize the arc of history bending toward justice.
About The Project
Peter Wick's hilarious 2018 book, "The Past is Going to Suck - A Time Travelers Guide; The 20th Century,"combines Wick's comic voice with the 'real' history of the 20th century. The film adaptation will take the concept to a whole new level.
The book is only the starting point. Join Wick as he guides travelers through historic events, while also trying to prevent time travelers - one traveler in particular - from altering and ruining the whole the progression of TIME.
Through the magic of green screen and original footage from the time, we will visit events and historic eras from the 20th century, and discuss your travel options, as you plan your trip.
The book has been availale worldwide, in paperback and ebook, since August, 2018, and has been selling well. Wick's writing style was described in a 5-star Readers Favorite (readersfavorite.com) review as, "Skillful tongue-in-cheek humor." The Manhattan Book Review summed it up this way; "...A tongue-in cheek style of narration that lampoons everything from Presidents to musicians...A book that never overstays its welcome, and leaves you wanting a little more."
This crowd funding camapign will raise funds to get the film adaptation off the ground. Wick and his collaborators plan to shoot on green screen in order to 'visit' the key events that make up important 20th century history. The funds raised with this particular camapign will be specifically for filming and production. Post Production will be separate, and will be dealt with after the film is 'in the can.' This find raising camapign gets the film 'in the can.'
The long-term goal, once the film is completed is to dig into all world-wide distribution options available, beginning with film festivals. Wick has so far gone three-for-three, winning festival awards for each of his three pervious films.
Beyond festivals, the film will go to American Film Market, which Wick has attended in the past, in search of 'foreign territory' distribution. A limited theatrical realease, in specialty independent theaters, is a realistic goal, and then the filmmakers will look for the right platform (Netflix? Hulu?) for the film to settle in for an extended online life.
