THEY'RE ALREADY HERE: Our vision for "The Pod People," is to ride the line between campy B-movie aesthetic and truly grotesque body horror gore. By combining the two, we aim to create an unsettling tone that permeates throughout the film-- where the audience is simultaneously excited and repulsed.

Mission Statement

Ensuring roles in our cast and crew for women and people of color is extremely important to us, and always front of mind. We go out of our way to create opportunities and positions for underrepresented communities in the film industry. We are proud of the diverse team we're making this film with.

The Story

After a night out, Charlie develops a hideous cyst growing out of his sternum, slowly spreading its roots throughout his body. Ignoring it, Charlie continues to drink.

With apathy turning to negligence, Charlie's lack of self care begins to consume his life in a new and ensnaring way.

The first two acts indulge in the campiness of the genre-- rapid cuts, macro images of the grotesque, dramatic dynamic camera moves, all accentuating the insidious growing horror of the mysterious biological horror. The final act takes a step back, and looks at the action from a detatched and removed perepective. The control is ripped from the character, and the audience, now forced to be passive spectators to the events unfolding.

Our actions define our personality, our habits dictate our lives. Certain outcomes and tragedies seem out of our control – but often that ignores the conscious choice an individual makes every day to contribute and give strength to the behaviors that inevitably cause one’s downfall.

In this story, Charlie chooses to over indulge in a narcotic that numbs him to the world, and actively denies any problem he has. His downfall is that he created an identity that exists in the mundane, and he lost his previous personality to his own self-destructive behaviors. Charlie’s identity is over-written by his own choices and vices.

The real tragedy is not the loss of identity, but in this case, that no one is able to tell the difference.

Red Five Productions has been cutting their teeth producing comedic shorts and sketches  (including full-blown green screen Star Wars parodies) and Comedy-horror films for the past several years-- as well as moonlighting by creating ultra low-budget corportate videos.

Recently, Red Five has moved on to something far scarier than any horror film--emotional vulnerability. In the past two years, Red Five Productions has shifted to making serious films that drop all pretnese of irony and exploring themes such as identity, addiction, and avarice -- all while taking strides to create inclusive opportunities for under represented communities both on and off the camera.
