THE PARADOX examines the life of KYLE, a 24 year old doing everything in his power to get by and build a life for himself, but ultimately he's left feeling incomplete. He's surrounded by a caring family, dogs, and about as happy go lucky of a best friend as they come. But when Eric asks Kyle to move his stuff out of his sisters room while she's back from college, it sets in motion a series of events that throws him back into his dark and mysterious past. He ultimately decides to return home. A decision that unbeknownst to Kyle, would change his life forever.

We want to uplift people to follow their passion. To convince people to never take anything, or anyone for granted and to treat each day like it counts. A large message for a short film, one that hopefully you can help us bring to fruition.  
 
A major theme of this short is about physical absuse and the lasting effects it can have on someone if they decide to let it take hold of them. We feel it Is important to recognize that you do not need to carry the weight of your past, in order to build a better future.  28.3% of adults report being physically abused as a child (childhelp.org). We don't want to give away any spoilers, but we have a deep emotional connection with this issue and would like the opportunity to shine a light on it from a new and unique persepective.

We’ve always been fascinated by identity and how certain events can cause someone to alter their character. Why do those events in particular stick out to us and cause us to change? The Paradox revolves around the complexities of all relationships, and how our vulnerabilities and burdened pasts can alter relationships, for better or worse. It asks the questions, do we allow preconceived notions to haze our judgement and fall into the paradox of trying to re-write history? Do we just cut out those negative parts of our past? Or do we decide to move forward under new terms?
 
Dylan felt it was important to have the main character constantly in motion, and for the film style to reflect that. Whether this means he is running away, or towards his future, it's a drive that everyone can relate to. An uncompromissing dedication to a single goal. An unrelenting search for betterment. A purpose.
 
All filming will take place in Southern California, and Production is scheduled to begin in Fall 2017
