Mission Statement

Written, produced, and directed by an Asian-American, and worked on by over 50% women and a 25% racially diverse crew, this film tells a story that relates to people regardless of any boundary or category.

The Story

Have you ever wondered what you would you say to your parents if/when they passed away?

The love that a parent or guardian has for their child is unparalleled in this world. There is nothing that they won't do for their child, to see them be happy, to see them suceed. I have created this film in an attempt to capture the power of such love in my own personal experiences. I hope you will think about and reevaluate your relationship with your parents.

When I re-read what I wrote once for an award acceptance speech, I cried at what I had written, because the gratitude I had was mostly for all that my parents have done for me. I reworked it a little bit, and it turned into this short film. Every time I watch clips or read the script, I still feel a weight in my heart.

I believe that I will never be able to thank my parents enough for everything that they have done for me, and will continue to do for me. Throughout the years, they have protected me, taught me, and helped me grow. This is my thank you card to them, and I hope it inspires others to thank, if not just think about their parents.

If you are a parent, this is for you. If you don't have kids yet, this is to help you realize why parents do what they do. You never know when your last day with your loved ones is. There is never a bad time, nor is it ever too late, to thank and appreciate the people closest to you.

This is a story about unmatched love, and the never ending quest of a child to repay their parents for that.

The money that you graciously donate will help relieve some of the monetary weight off of our creative team and allow us to make this story the best it can be. We will then be able to share it with as many people as possible. Our small one weekend shoot incurred some necessary costs in order to tell this story right and do it justice. At the conclusion of the campaign, we will also be making a personal donation to Ronald McDonald House Charities, who do an incredible job providing stability and resources for families everywhere.

$600 will go towards renting the incredible location that we were graciously permitted to film at, in order to create the entire setting and ambience.

$300 will go towards production design, which supports the location in their joint quest to create the appropriate atmosphere for the story to live in.

$1200 will go towards the renting of equipment such as the camera and its accesosories, lights, sound recorders and equipment, to make this film look perfect. It also goes towards equipment insurance and safety.

$400 will go towards the safe transportation of crew and equipment to and from location and set, including a U-Haul we rented for safe equipment transportation.

$500 will go towards feeding our incredible cast and crew that weekend. These hardworking people need the energy and fuel to make this meaningful film happen. Keeping them fed with good food was important to their mental and physical wellbeing.

$500 will go towards film festival submissions, where this uniquely told story will have a chance to be broadcast to a wide audience that only festivals can reach.

Due to COVID-19, our production has faced some unprecedented challenges brought about by social distancing. Being a student film, our crew is from all over the world, so when we all went home and dispersed, collaborating became so much more difficult. However, we were lucky enough to have finished shooting right before everything shut down, so we ended up in a better position than most productions. Moving forward, we are doing our best to find different avenues of digital collaboration that allow us to finish editing and distributing the film, and bring this story straight to you!
