J.R. Griffin

Producer/Director

Producer, writer and director, Jahmar R. Griffin (J.R.) was born in San Diego,

California and learned at an early age that he was drawn to stories and

storytelling. After completing high school he enlisted in the United States Air

Force. Traveling the world seeing and meeting new people and experiencing

different cultures gave him insights and a newfound respect for cultural arts,

music, and various lifestyles. It was this time in the Air force that propelled J.R.

from being a passive movie watcher to a yearning to become an active student

of film. A decorated veteran, J.R. returned to the USA with an unshakable

determination to establish himself in the film industry. In 2009 he enrolled at

The Los Angeles Film School in Hollywood, California. Taking to this like a

fish to water, J.R.’s passion and ambition for film and storytelling was

beginning to reveal itself through his work.In 2011, to learn how to convert

his visions to a visual medium and put stories together artistically he enrolled in

the UCLA Film Directing Certificate program where he graduated in Spring of

2013. Ambitious and focused, he has poised himself as a part of today’s

growing generation of current independent filmmakers, by shooting a collection of

short films, commercials, and music videos for a multitude of musical artist. Varying from

genres of hip/hop, R&B, Rock, POP, and house/techno music.
