Hey, I'm StormMiguel!
San Francisco, California
Follow my project about lesbian youth culture in the 70s & 80s in Albuquerque, New Mexico!
The Whistle: https://www.seedandspark.com/fund/thewhistle
I'm a queer trans Latinx filmmaker and multi-media artist based in San Francisco. I am originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico and still have very strong roots there - even though I've been in the Bay Area almost half my life. I guess you could say I'm polygeoamorous?
I love editing and am a director of a couple documentaries. The films I work on are rooted deeply in queer, poc, and trans communities and lives. I had the pleasure of co-producing and editing MAJOR! a film about Black trans elder and pioneer, Miss Major Griffin-Gracy. I am currently in post production as a producer/director/editor on The Whistle, a documentary about lesbian youth culture in the 70s and 80s in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and in early production as director/editor on a documentary about acclaimed trans modern dance and choreography trailblazer, Sean Dorsey.
I am also an occasional actor, most recently as the lead in a short by Maria Breaux called "Socorro" and currently a part of an amazing rockstar cast in a film by Maria Breaux which will be announced soon!
I serve on the Board of Directors of Queer Cultural Center in San Francisco, the Advisory Board of the San Francisco Transgender Film Festival, and the Board of Elders for Peacock Rebellion - we in QTPOC communities are sometimes considered elders as early as our 40s. I just go with it and try not to let it get to my head.
Aside from all that, I love New Mexican food, Chihuahuas, the rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar, being a part of TQPOC community and queer and trans communites in general.
