I’ve known lots of dogs in my lifetime. Many were tied to failed romantic relationships. After the tears are shed and the belongings returned, I realize it's the dogs I miss most.
When I approached this film, I wanted to examine the relationship between two long-time friends and the mystery of their own feelings for each other. Whether romantic or platonic, relationships are always a puzzle; we can never fully know another. That element of mystery is what drove me to make this film. I adopted the lens of a comedic mystery to reflect how real-life relationships transpire: with confusion and pain and then sudden burst of humor. Being interested in someone means constantly wondering what that person thinks of you, feels towards you, and ultimately, if they find your jokes funny. We all act like detectives, gathering clues and trying to come up with some definitive answers.
