Based on a painting titled, Violinist on a bench by Marc Chagall, this film is an exploration into the place of technology in today's world. While remaining subtle, this vignette of a man repaying his debt to the Devil, features commentary on the strive of acceptance and appreciation for one's artistic work, and the role technology can play in that.
Shooting analog, 35mm film, was something we explored from the beginning, in order to stay true to the message being delivered. In the ever changing digital world, film, and analog, classical music, and pure sounds, are things to remember and cherish.
I felt I needed to make a film that provided an example of the beauty of the "analog" world, and was so lucky to have a terrific team, and a super talented violinist in Barry Socher. His performance was played, shot, and audio recorded live, right there in the park!
