It’s incredible fun to play with a mythology so loaded with expectation and to subvert that into something new. Lewis Carroll’s words present as much specificity of feeling as they do a blank canvas, and that’s what I love about Jabberwocky. The challenge of capturing exactly what “brillig” feels like or how to depict “slithy toves” is what drew me so strongly to the material, and what made it such a joy to produce. We made this film through one of the coldest months a Minnesota winter could offer, and it shows in the best way. Inspired by language, the power of the unseen, and the will to survive, on screen and off, we lived this film as it's seen here now. Enjoy!
