David's dog, Vivian, is dying. His second best friend in the world, Megan is there to help him through it, even offering to help him make the worst decision a pet owner can make...putting the dog down. But when Vivian's health miraculously improves, Megan becomes a woman obsessed, and destroys every relationship in her life while trying to orchestrate Vivian's demise.
This film is based loosely...very loosely...on a true story. Mandy Fabian, the director did, in fact, grow up on a ranch. She may have offered to help a friend put his dog down, which led to a ridiculous, hilarious improv that turned into this glorious piece of cinema. Killing Vivian is Ms. Fabian's directorial debut, shot while she was 8 months pregnant and delirious from the heat in July of 2012. "Vivian" is played by her dog "Daisy", and she's still very much alive.
