“A fun, funny, and sweet film, Sumi is a marvelous combination of precise direction, smart cinematography and great screen-writing” - Christopher J. Garcia, klausatgunpoint.weebly.com
Inspired by our friend’s stories of pursuing their art in NYC while finding unique ways to survive, we wanted to explore how these day jobs interact with Craigslist roommates, (i.e., strangers,) and how they change the artist. The filmmakers would like to note that while they, themselves, are artists living in NYC, they officially plead the fifth in regards to what we may or may not have done to survive.
Selected for an encore screening by the audience at Cinequest Film Festival 2014, Sumi is a whimsical tale featuring magical realism, phone sex, and a curious cat.
Directed by Rachael Grace. Written by and Starring Hye Yun Park.
