The Story

PROJECT AT A GLANCE:

What if your doppelganger demon knew all your good hiding places?

Every Cell is an artistic exploration of mental health challenges. The project is rich with entertaining and relatable content, and the production methods include real efforts toward sustainability and inclusion; in short: humanistic filmmaking.

IN MORE DETAIL:

In a nutshell: In Every Cell, Ali struggles to outrun a demon masquerading with her face. As the lines between the two entities blur, Ali finds herself trapped in a winner-takes-all, life-or-death battle with an indistinguishable foe.

The nuts and bolts: Every Cell is intentionally layered to allow audiences to either enjoy the film at face value (as a piece of entertainment) or look deeper for dark, relatable Easter eggs (as a piece of art). Written and directed by a neurodivergent actor and artist, the piece is rich with layered explorations of psychological and behavioral concepts such as intrusive thoughts, masking, and dysmorphia. The story is told by a an equally rich and layered team of people, led by neurodivergent and queer creatives. Elevation of underrepresented voices with mindfulness and integrity - via storytellers, cast, characters, and crew - is especially possible in the indie sphere.

So nutty bananas rn! With reports of anxiety and depression on the rise, it is a vital time for reflection, representation, and artistic rendering of the human experience. But, let's not take ourselves too seriously - Let's laugh, let's cry, let's jump scare, and vibe! <3

A FUTURE, WITH YOU:

Absolutely every PLEDGE, FOLLOW & SHARE helps us toward success!

The Every Cell team has put together proof-of-concept materials that have received rave reviews from beta audience members. We're now entering the production phase in earnest, and your contribution will help bring Every Cell through to fruition. This piece is one in a series of films to come, and its success will help set a broader trajectory of productivity for the creative team - meaning, more meaningful entertainment for you!

Non-monetary support: Seed & Spark offers campaigners perks for increasing levels of project followers, so your follows and shares here and on social media can have a very real impact on the project, even if you can't financially contribute yourself! More details available here: https://seedandspark.com/rewards

Campaign goals: The campaign funding goals reflect a minimalistic budget to achieve production. If pledges exceeded the amount of the campaign goal, crew contracts, timelines, marketing, and quality of production all improve! AND funds can roll over into post-production and ultimately bring Every Cell to screens and festivals near you! (Yes, please!)

Timeline: Every Cell will be submitted to select film festivals and subsequently released for public viewing. (Some festivals require premiere status, meaning that Every Cell may not be immediately released once post-production has concluded.) We're aiming for late 2025, maybe even in time for Halloween.

About This Team

Nicole Berry - Writer & Director

Bio: Nicole is a neurodivergent actor, writer, and director in the greater Sacramento area. Her stories explore the complexities of trauma and mental health via the medium of surreal, psychological horror. They are female-centric, and bolster the voice of the aging ingénue whose identity, reality, and humanity are shaken and risk shattering.

Statement: This project is deeply meaningful to me; I have lost friends and family to hidden battles with trauma and depression. I honor them in my work, and struggle less silently, in the hopes that the dark is less lonely for those who hear the howls.

Avery Peck - Cinematographer & Colorist

Bio: Avery is a cinematographer and colorist with 12 years of narrative and commercial experience. Outside of his professional work, he's best known for his YouTube channel focusing on color, software, and nerdy camera stuff.

Statement: When Nicole reached out with this script, I was immediately on board. Though it's a surreal film, it speaks directly to feelings and intrusive trains of thought that many will relate to. While it's easy to attach labels to people and projects, I firmly believe real representation happens through storytelling. I'm honored and thrilled to be part of such a diverse team dedicated to telling this story.
