MISGUIDED follows Paul, Daytime TV's biggest fan, in his quest to be its newest star. Season Three will be the most dramatic one yet, as Paul, a year after waking up with amnesia, experiences life in a whole new way, living within his own soap opera.

Mission Statement

While MISGUIDED is a series following one gay man's dream, its message aims to inspire all who don't always fit in, to continue to pursue their dreams regardless. The majority of the cast and crew are women of varying ages, with an all female crew, most of whom identify as LGBTQ+.

The Story

All his life, Paul (Paul Gosselin) wanted to be an actor on the daytime drama, Guiding Light, but after CBS canceled the series following a 72-year run, Paul thought it was high time to pack up his life in New York City and move to Los Angeles. While in the City of Angels, home to the now four remaining US soap operas, Paul seeks out wisdom and inspiration in navigating this disappearing industry from the one person he believes has all of the answers, Susan Lucci, aka "Big Sue."

In Part I of MISGUIDED, Paul moves in with his best friend and former soap opera ingenuie, Stephanie (Stephanie Gatschet). He attempts to break into the industry through various connections, including with a former lover and now casting director named Breeze (Ivet Corvea); inviting Gracie (Katy Jacoby), a writer from The Bold & The Beautiful to a storytelling show, and attempting to flirt with a man named Trevor (Chuck Saculla), a producer of a daytime show, with a secret of his own. It isn't until Paul comes face to face with two friends from his past in New York City (Melissa Claire Egan & Chrishell Hartley) that he realizes all might be hopeless. Finally, when things are looking bleak for Paul, a woman named Susan Coochie appears and reginites his passion once again!

At the beginning of MISGUIDED: Part II, Jeva Jones (Jean Carol), an agent who saw Paul in his storytelling showcase gives him some fabulous news: CBS is bringing back Guiding Light. Not only that, but Jeva wants to submit Paul for an audition to be the star of the newly rebooted series. The audition has its challenges though, as Paul once again is in competition with his arch-nemesis/fuck buddy, Bauer McBride (Christopher Robert Smith). Though Bauer may have the looks, Paul seems to have the upperhand this time, as Breeze is the casting director running the big audition. All seems to be going well for Paul until he gets a surprise visit from his mother, Mo (Jacklyn Zeman), whose shakes up his life and thrusts him into his own soap opera... or does it? When Susan Coochie reappears this season she offers up some advice to Paul, who is literally fighting for his life. Part II concludes with the light within Paul being snuffed out, and now more than ever, it's time to #ReigniteTheLight

Q. Is a third season necessary?

A. Originally, Season 2 was suppose to end the series with Susan Coochie telling Paul that she would be his 'guiding light.' Though when we were filming, I knew this couldn't possibly be the end and there were too many soap opera tropes left to explore. Full disclosure, MISGUIDED was disqualified from The Daytime Emmys for "being too much in the comedy genre,"and so I knew I had to make more episodes and those episodes needed to be even more dramatic. So Season 3 will be the same quirky drama it's always been, maybe just a tad bit more intense. So Buckle up, buttercup!

Q. How will you be spending the Seed&Spark money?

A. All funds raised through the Seed&Spark campaign will be going toward the production of Season 3. Cast & crew, studio & equipment rentals as well as production design make up most of what will be covered through this crowdfunding effort. Check out the WishList to see what our needs are.

Q. I never watched a soap opera in my life, will I enjoy MISGUIDED?

A. MISGUIDED isn't your run of the mill, every day type of soap opera. At it's core, it's your typical webseries about an actor trying to break into show business, but it's SO. MUCH. MORE. See Paul wants to be a soap opera actor and that passion for soaps crosses over into his everyday life. It has a little bit of everything: comedy, drama, melodrama, romance and Season 3 promises to deliver even more.

Q. I absolutely love my soaps, will I enjoy MISGUIDED?

A. If you loved Guiding Light as much as Paul, you are in for a treat. Throughout seasons 1&2 (and soon-to-be season 3) there are several Easter Eggs for your enjoyment. Whether it was a book laying on a desk written by Rob Decina, Guiding Light's casting director, or simply the names of a MISGUIDED character, ie Jeva (the ship name for Josh & Reva), be on the look out as they could pop up when you least expect them. Though maybe you didn't watch Guiding Light, but love your daytime dramas, well, the cast is made up of actors who have appeared on a number of soaps and who better to make these soap opera tropes work in a believable and heartfelt way, then those who work within the daytime drama community. Check out Seasons 1 & 2 to see what I mean.

Q. Is Paul really Daytime TV's biggest fan?

A. According to the magazine ABC Soaps In Depth, he's technically a 'Superfan.'
