When an aspiring musician arrives home to NYC with plans on taking her producer out for a night on the town, her mother and sister interrupt their date with a puppet show rehearsal that tests her ability to prove she really is a cool badass rocker, not a nerdy puppeteer like her past suggests.

Mission Statement

The directors, writers, editors, & DP on this film are women. This film stars three women- two sisters and a mother. The fourth co-star is the love interest and a person of color. This is a story about family and integrity, self love and acceptance. We're actively seeking a diverse cast/crew.

The Story

Miranda’s plans are going swimmingly: not only is she recording her debut album with a talented and hot producer named Dameon, but she has the opportunity to show him around NYC with fantastic dinner and live music. The snag? After Miranda arrives home and invites Dameon to meet at her apartment, they are interrupted by her mother and sister who are in the middle of rehearsing a puppet show for the annual puppetry convention that weekend. Desperate to hide her past involvement and talents in the world of puppetry, Miranda attempts to leave the apartment with Dameon unscathed, only to be roped into the current production her mother and sister are performing. Can Miranda continue to run from her past, or must she confront the truth head on and deal with the consequences later?

THE BACKSTORY

Robert (Bob) Münstedt arrived on Ellis Island at age thirteen from Bern, Switzerland already a puppeteer and storyteller. Throughout his life, he was a musician, comedian, and puppeteer who performed in the 1940s -1970s as "Mr. Bob". He frequently appeared on Boston area television shows such as The Rex Trailer Show and once on Johnny Carson.  During World War II, Bob worked closely with Bob Hope keeping the troops and their families entertained.

Jane Münstedt is Bob's middle child and the only one to follow his footsteps in the entertainment industry. Jane and her former husband Whitney successfully built a following during the fifteen year span they performed in the Boston music circuit as first the band Moxie, and then Dancer. After the band broke up, Jane created a spin off version of her dad's children's show in South Florida called Jane Stratten's Musical Puppets.

Merissa Morin is Jane's middle child and the creator of Puppet Seizure. An actress and singer her entire life, she graduated from a magnet high school with a focus on musical theater and then later from New York University with a BFA in musical theater. Her focus in later years has been in film and television, and this project is the culmination of all of her passions. After being told for years that she can't do it all, here she is trying to prove everyone wrong!
