Heart Baby Eggplant
Inspired by true stories that you will both laugh at and relate to, Heart Baby Eggplant takes an honest and humorous look at different styles of relationships in today's world: From casual sex and dating, to the pursuit of one's true love, all the way to marriage and motherhood.
Inclusion StatementThe 3 creators and stars of this show have been friends in real life for nearly a decade. None of us were cast or brought onto this project to fulfill any inclusion check box. Instead, we are simply making a scripted series that authentically showcases what groups of girlfriends look like in 2019.
About The Project
**UPDATE** We hit our 1st funding goal!! Hooray!! Check out our Updates for details about our stretch goals and production plans moving forward!
Heart Baby Eggplant is a single-camera comedy about 3 girlfriends, from 3 different backgrounds, in 3 different styles of relationships doing their best to guide and support each other, even though they might not understand the others' life choices, experiences, or goals. It's a modern millennial take on Sex and the City inspired by the real life stories of a diverse group of women living, loving, and (most importantly) laughing in Los Angeles.
Alison Haislip will be playing the role of ALISON -- A woman who's always had trainwreck relationships but has now successfully found the perfect boyfriend! And she literally does not know how to handle it.
Laura Ortiz will be playing the role of LAURA -- A happily married woman about to have a baby who refuses to give up her fun social life just because she's pregnant. A happy mommy means a happy baby, right???
Rati Gupta will be playing the role of RATI -- A shamelessly single woman living her best life sleeping with whoever she pleases with no strings attached. And suffering the awkward consequences that come with that.
MORE ABOUT THE SHOW
Heart Baby Eggplant not only takes an authentic look at the humorous trials and tribulations of relationships, but it also highlights the friendship necessary to overcome them. Despite their differences, these women support each other without judgment or hesitation, sometimes by taking actions they never thought they would, sometimes with an empathetic text, and sometimes just by listening.
The series delves equally into all 3 storylines, with each character featured in their own way every episode. Every story matters, and no journey or goal is more important than the other. There is no leading lady here. This is a true ensemble. They say it takes a village to raise a child. We say it also takes a village to handle a new boyfriend, get through a pregnancy, and maneuver the world of casual dating.

About This Team
Alison Haislip, Laura Ortiz, and Rati Gupta have all been working in the entertainment industry for over a decade and have amassed very specific and unique followings that they look forward to bringing together on this project.
Alison Haislip is an American actress and television host who most recently can be seen on the current season of NBC's SUPERSTORE. She recurred on Alan Tudyk & Nathan Fillion’s hit SyFy show, CON MAN, and was a series lead on Hulu’s first original series, BATTLEGROUND, produced by Marc Webb. She currently hosts her own podcast on the Starburns Audio Network, “The Half Hour Happy Hour: Ladies Night”, and just recently starred in the soon-to-be-finished film, ALLAN THE DOG. She's also well known for her sweet hosting skills on such shows as G4's ATTACK OF THE SHOW, NBC's THE VOICE, and ABC's BATTLEBOTS. Alison is a New Jersey native who has been acting since she was 12, singing since she was 3, and defending her home state since birth. In her spare time, she writes music on her red piano and frequently changes her hair color. She also won the "Showcase Showdown" on THE PRICE IS RIGHT during the Bob Barker years and knows there’s a pretty good chance that nothing will get cooler than that.
Laura Ortiz is a Latin-American actress who's made her mark in the horror world as the star of VICTORY CROWLEY and with a performance in Wes Craven's THE HILLS HAVE EYES that was nominated for a Chainsaw Award. Her other big screen credits include GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, NORBIT, and a lead role in CHILLERAMA. She presented at The Annie Awards with Tom Kenny, the voice of SpongeBob. Laura also starred in the popular web series REAL HOUSEWIVES OF HORROR and THAT MOMENT WHEN. Fun fact: Laura is also an Urban Dictionary definition!
Rati Gupta is rare breed of Indian-American hip hop dancer turned comedy actor, writer and storyteller. She trained with some of Chicago’s most renowned choreographers and worked alongside musical artists LUPE FIASCO and FLO RIDA. She is also set to appear in Netflix's upcoming drama series UNBELIEVABLE starring Toni Collette. Rati also travels the country performing humorous retellings of her outlandish personal experiences, of which there are many. Too many.
